Father Edward J. Flanagan, founded Father Flanagan's Boys Home in 1917. It was an orphanage for boys between the ages of 10 and 16 where they received an education and learned a trade. Flanagan was portrayed by Spencer Tracey in the 1938 film, BOY'S TOWN, based on the life of Father Flanagan. Ca. 1938. - (BSLOC_2015_1_55)
