FEDERIGO GONZAGA, by Francesco Francia, 1510, Italian Renaissance painting, tempera on wood. The great Renaissance collector Isabella d?Este, Marquess of Mantua, commissioned this portrait of her son Federigo Gonzaga, when he was taken to the papal court in Rome as hostage. Frederick became Duke of Mantua, and built the Palazzo Te, a mannerist masterpiece designed and decorated by Giulio Romano, outside Mantua (BSLOC_2017_16_77)
