First Battle of Bull Run, (First Manassas), July 21, 1861. Gen. Joseph Johnson rallying Confederate troops of Generals Bee, Bartow, and Evans, behind the Robinson House on Henry House Hill. Johnstons army arrived by railroad from the Shenandoah Valley. At mid-battle, the fresh troops turned the tide against the Union forces in the 10 hour struggle. Col. Bartow, with a standard in left background, regrouped his soldiers. Bee and Bartow would both be killed later in the day
