First shots of the Wounded Knee Massacre, on Dec. 29, 1890. It started during the US Armys was collection the weapons of Big Foots band of Minneconjou Sioux camped at Wounded Knee Creek. The massacre was sparked by the combination of Medicine Man Yellow Birds emotional harangue against the soldiers and the distress of a Black Coyote, a deaf Sioux, who struggled to keep his gun.
