Generalissimo Francisco Franco, the Caudillo of Spain in 1952. After WW2, Spain's fascist government was internationally isolated. Franco used the Cold War tensions to renew relations with the US in the 1953 Pact of Madrid. UN membership followed in 1955. (CSU_2015_9_709)
