Two German sailors in a bunker south east from Lake Ilman, Soviet Union, Jan. 26, 1943. The area near was the site of the successful German defense of the Demyansk Pocket, in 1942. The Red Army would liberate Demyansk in March 1942 after a final German retreat. (BSLOC_2013-12_5)
