German WW1 observer jumping from burning balloon
German WW1 observer jumping from burning balloon harnessed to a parachute. 1916-18. The parachute was attached to the basket's side so as to detach. To this, the observer was buckled by straps and cord. Photo was taken by a nearby aviator. (BSLOC_2012_4_84)
