High Bridge crossed the Appomattox River
High Bridge crossed the Appomattox River, near Farmville, in 1865. On left, four sections of the bridge have been repaired after they were damaged by retreating Confederates on April 6-7, 1865. The tree bark is still on the green wood used in this new section quickly built by the US Military Railroad
