The International Harvester Company recreated this scene of farmers working with the 1831 McCormick horse-drawn reaper. Six men are at work. Guided by a horseback rider, the reaper cuts the grain with a knife and cutter bar. The cut grain stalks fall to a flat bed, from which they are raked off in clumps by a man walker behind the reaper. Two more men bind the grain into bundles, tied by knotted grain stalks. Finally, in the distance, two more men gather and stack the grain stalks for pick up
