Irish-American lawyer, Andrew McReynolds
Irish-American lawyer, Andrew McReynolds, was commissioned as a Colonel by President Abraham Lincoln on June 15, 1861. He had raised and was assigned command of the 1st New York (Lincoln) Cavalry. It was the first Union regiment of volunteer cavalry organized during the US Civil War. After the war, he was US Attorney for the western district of Michigan, and in 1874 was elected prosecuting attorney of Muskegon County. Photo by Mathew Brady Studio
