Joe Adonis was arrested May 22, 1971 and held under preventive detention in Italy. He lived luxuriously in Milan since his voluntary departure from the U.S. in 1956. In an Italian Police crackdown, Adonis was one of 115 suspected mobsters relocated to Serra de Conti, a small town on the Adriatic. He suffered a heart attack during police interrogation and died on Nov. 26, 1971. (CSU_2015_11_1176)
