John Hancock was President of the American Congress from May 24, 1775 " Oct. 1777. Hancock points his pen at a document entitled, To the People of Ireland, which is beside the Resolutions of the Continential Congress. Discarded, on the floor are Boston Port Bill, and a Proclamation. The portraits on the wall behind him, depict Oliver Cromwell and John Hampden, both leaders of the English Civil War against King Charles I
