John Marshall, served as the 4th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1801 to 1835. Cephas Thompson painted Marshall's 1809 portrait from life in Richmond, Virginia. Marshall also served in the Continental Army, during the Revolutionary War, and as the 4th US Secretary of State (BSIC_2020_12_1)
