John Uslie, before diving into the Tidal Basin

John Uslie, before diving into the Tidal Basin, in Washington, D.C. July 8, 1922. Born in 1901, he was orphaned at 15, and lost both of his arms in railroad accident the following year. He learned to write by holding a pen in his mouth and supported himself making a living by writing cards and selling drawings. He was married to Mary Uslie and lived to age 94 (BSLOC_2016_10_98)
