Jomo Kenyatta, President of Kenya, carried a fly-whisk, a mark of authority in Maasai society. During his rule, multi-ethnic Kenya moved toward one party rule, Kenya African National Union, and domination by his Kikuyu (Gikuyu) Tribe's elite. While it is the largest ethnic group in Kenya, it represented less than 25% of the population. (CSU_2015_9_688)
