Joseph Goldwasser (left) appealed to Gov. Herman Talmadge, about the murder of Robert Mallard. The African American farmer was killed by a mob of 20 men in white robes. NAACP member Goldwasser, asked Talmadge to investigate and appealed for justice. Eventually, all suspects were acquitted. (CSU_2015_11_1341)
