Joseph (Joe Bananas) Bonanno arrives at Federal Courthouse in New York on May 17, 1966 to surrender to federal authorities 19 months after his disappearance. Bonanno had been the object of a worldwide manhunt since Oct. 21, 1964, when he was reportedly kidnaped at gunpoint on the eve of his scheduled appearance before a rackets grand jury.
