Liberty Bell on display in the State House
Liberty Bell on display in the State House (Independence Hall), Philadelphia, c. 1940. It is unknown when the Liberty Bell first cracked, but it is speculated that a narrow split developed in the early 1840s after nearly 90 years of hard use.
