THE LITTLE BUTTERFLY, 1901, by Rudolf Eickemeyer
THE LITTLE BUTTERFLY, 1901, by Rudolf Eickemeyer. The photograph shows 16-year-old Evelyn Nesbit wearing in a Japanese kimono, posed sleeping on a polar bear rug. Nesbit began her modeling career in her early teens and posed for many respected artists most notably, Charles Dana Gibson, who idealized her as a Gibson Girl. She became the first pin-up girl and became romantically involved with the famous architect, Stanford White, which led to a scandal in 1906
