Lt. Parker and 4th Michigan soldiers served in the Civil Wars Eastern campaigns from the Battle of Bull Run to Cold Harbor. Almost unseen at lower left, is a kneeling African American man, possibly a contraband employed as a servant. Two of the soldiers wear their Americanized Zouave uniform with federal sack coat, chasseur trousers, and tan gaiters. 1861-65
