Four lynched black sharecroppers, arrested for ?disturbing
Four lynched black sharecroppers, arrested for ?disturbing the peace in Russellville, KY, Aug. 1908. Their offense was to ?express sympathy? for a fellow sharecropper who killed his white employer in self-defense. Their jailer hand them over to a mob of 100 men, who hung them from a cedar tree. The mens names were Virgil, Robert, and Thomas Jones and Joseph Riley (BSLOC_2017_20_86)
