Margaret Sanger, birth control pioneer at a desk surround by twelve other women in 1924. By the early 1920s, legal resistance to birth control eased. Sanger founded the American Birth Control League (ABCL) in 1921 to enlarge her practice, mostly in poorer neighborhoods. The ABCL evolved into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America in 1942.
