Marian Anderson (1897-1993), at a NBC microphone during her historic concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, singing to a crowd of 75, 000 on Easter Day, April 9, 1939. She had been refused use of the DAR's Constitution Hall. The Daughters of the American Revolution, included a white-artist-only clause in all of it concert hall contracts. The concert was a landmark event in the African American civil rights struggle (BSIC_2020_7_12)
