Martha Jefferson Randolph was the eldest daughter of Thomas Jefferson, and his wife, Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson. The watercolor on ivory miniature was painted by French painter Joseph Boze in 1789 when she was 17 years old, with he father in France. Later, from 1801-1809, she sometimes served as her fathers White House hostess
