Men who built the Great Northern Railroad 8 mile tunnel in Washington State. Constructed from Aug. 20, 1897 to Dec. 20, 1900, it was first Cascade Tunnel at Stevens Pass. L-R: W. E. Conroy, who had managed construction of tunnel; Col. Frederick Mears, Assist. Chief Engineer, Great Northern Railroad; J. C. Baxter, Vice President of A. Guthrie and Company, contractors.
