Mexican American War. Battle of Churubusco, August 20, 1847. After the Battle of Contreras, the Mexican Army retreated to Churubusco, where the fighting continued on August 21. In the distance is the town and convent where the battle ended with a Mexican surrender, leaving only 5 miles distance between the US Army and Mexico City
