Mexican American War. Battle of Molino del
Mexican American War. Battle of Molino del Rey, Sept. 8, 1847, was part of the Campaign for Mexico City. The foundry was attacked because it was believed to be casting cannons for the Mexican Army. Mexican forces under General Antonio Leun opposed a US army under Major General William J. Worth. Image shows the attack on the foundry, that gave the battle its name, called Molino del Rey (Kings Mill)
