Moennitarri Warrior in the Costume of the
Moennitarri Warrior in the Costume of the Dog Dance, 1833-34. The Moennitarri are also called the Hidatsa and lived on northern plains. We know the dancers name, Pehriska-Ruhpa meaning Two Ravens, who was a top warrior. He danced battle maneuvers to bring success in future fights. His headdress was made of magpie and wild turkey feathers. He holds a war whistle and a Dog society rattle made of a deer hoof attached to a beaded stick.
