The Monk in the Corn
The Monk in the Corn, by Rembrandt van Rijn, 1646, Dutch print, etching and drypoint on paper. This is one Rembrandt's few erotic works. It depicts a monk in his habit making love to a women in wheat field. In the background a harvester cuts the wheat with a scythe. The copper plate created by Rembrandt was printed in the workshop of Pierre Francois Basan c. 1750-1819 (BSLOC_2016_3_43)
