THE MUSIC ROOM, by Mihaly Munkacsy, 1878, Hungarian painting, oil on wood. A fashionable musical party takes place in the artists Paris home on the Avenue de Villiers. Munkacsy trained in central Europe and was associated with the romantic realist Dusseldorf School. Before his move to Paris in 1872, and 1874 marriage to a wealthy widow, he was known for his scenes of the daily lives of peasants and poor people (BSLOC_2017_9_71)
