Mustapha Kemal Ataturk, President of Turkey and his wife, Latife Hanouz. She was a multilingual woman educated in Europe and was married to the Turkish leader from Jan. 1923 to August 1925, and was his only wife. For two and a half years, Latife symbolized the new face of Turkish women. She appeared publically with her husband and encouraged women to participate and public life.
