Nathuram Vinayak Godse (left) on trial with others for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on Jan. 30, 1948. Godse, an extreme Hindu Nationalist, blamed Gandhi for weakness against Muslims. He is on trial in inside the Red Fort, Old Delhi, with his co-conspirators, all prominent members of the Hindu Mahasabha in May 1948.
