Naval warfare between two Portuguese and French
Naval warfare between two Portuguese and French ships at Pernambuco, in present-day Brazil. After one of the attacking Portuguese ships mast was destroyed, they retreated from the battle, ca. 1550. On shore are native American warriors and their palisaded village. This engraving was published by Theodor de Bry in 1593
