Noureddin Atassi, President of Syria from Feb
Noureddin Atassi, President of Syria from Feb. 1966 to Nov. 1970. He belonged to the Baath Party that advocated unification of the Arab world. He was deposed in a coup by Hafez al-Assad, his defense minister, and spent his last 22 years in Mezze military prison in Damascus. (CSU_2015_7_437)
