Paul Revere, Boston silversmith, in portrait print made after a painting by Gilbert Stuart, c. 1813, when Revere was 78 years old. With peace restored, Reveres silversmith business expanded to iron casting, bronze bell and cannon casting, and the forging of copper bolts and spikes. In 1800, he became the first American to successfully roll copper sheets used to cover the ship hulls
