The peace Council between Geronimo (in bandana)

The peace Council between Geronimo (in bandana) and General Crook (in pith helmet) hold a peace council at a campsite in Canyon de Los Embudos, Mexico, March 25, 1886. On March 27th, the Apaches leaders accepted Crooks surrender terms that the hostiles and their families must go into Eastern internment for two years. Then they would be released to go to the Apache reservation at San Carlos. As Crook was reporting the settlement via telegraph to Gen. Philip Sheridan, Geronimo fled back to the Sierra Madre Mountains with 21 men and 13 women. Photo by C. S. (Camillus Sidney) Fly
