People of Bikini Atoll carry their belongings down
People of Bikini Atoll carry their belongings down to boat. 40 families were temporarily moved to Rongerik Atoll on March 7, 1946. Their displacement was permanent, because the BAKER atomic explosion and following tests, irradiated the Bikini Island, making it uninhabitable. 23 nuclear devices were detonated in the Bikini vicinity between 1946 and 1958 at seven test sites.
