Philip Habib, American career diplomat, May 4, 1970. He was head of the U.S. delegation to the Paris Peace Talks from 1968 to 1971. Habib was born in Bensonhurst Brooklyn to Lebanese Maronite Catholic parents. While earning a Ph.D. from Berkeley on the G.I.
