Pope Pius XII made a radio appeal for peace on November 8, 1940 during World War II. Broadcasting in four languages, Vatican Radio appealed to Catholics to remain true to their faith's injunctions: to defend the sanctity of life and the unity of humankind. Vatican radio was among the first to report that Poles and Jews were being arrested and forced into ghettos. (CSU_2015_9_1002)
