President Anastasia Somoza of Nicaragua in his Presidential regalia in 1939. When the U.S. Marines disengaged from the Nicaraguan Civil War (1927-33) they left three rulers of the country: Anastasia Somoza; Rebel leader, Augusto Cesar Sandino; President Juan Bautista Sacasa. Sandino was executed in 1934, and Somoza took over the presidency in 1936. The Somoza family ruled until 1979. (CSU_2015_11_1425)
