President Ulysses Grant held a reception for Native Americans at the White House, on June 6, 1870. Among the attendees was Red Cloud, a signer of the 1868 Treaty of Laramie. The Euro-Americans and Indians, were mutually interested in each others party clothes. The evening ended in the State Dining Room before the Native Americans continued their eastern tour with a visit to New York City
