The public hanging of double murderer Albert E. Haunstine at Broken Bow, Nebraska, May 22, 1891. The crowd tore down two sides of a wooden curtain built to block their view of the execution. Haunstine was hanged twice. The first time Haunstine fell through the trap, the robe broke and he fell to the ground. Two minutes later he was dropped again, and was declared dead 17 minutes later
