Racist campaign poster of Democratic Party candidate, Hiester Clymer, in the 1866 Pennsylvania gubernatorial race. It claims Clymers platform as for the White Man, while James Geary, his opponent, is for the Negro. Clymers campaign produced some of the most virulently racist posters and pamphlets of the 1860s. He lost the election to Union Major General Geary, but later was elected to the US House of Representatives, from Pennsylvanias 8th district, serving from 1873 to 1881
