Richard Helms, U.S. ambassador to Iran, before a Senate Select committee on intelligence. Sept. 17, 1975. In 1973, as former CIA Director, Helms testified that the CIA had not supported opponents of Chile's murdered Marxist President Salvador Allende. In 1977 Helms received a two-year suspended prison sentence and a $2, 000 fine for not fully, completely and accurately testifying to Congress'. (CSU_2015_7_306)
