The scene appears to be based on the story in which Spaniard convict guided five French privateers ships to Cartagena, in the 16th century. The French looted, burned, killed, and kidnapped in the town of their countrys enemy. The revengeful Spanish guide, stabs the judge who convicted him in his bed.
