Screenwriter Morrie Ryskind testified to the Un-American Activities Committee (HUAAC), as a friendly witness, Oct. 22, 1947. He wrote for the Marx brothers and was nominated for Academy Awards for MY MAN GODFREY, 1936, and STAGE DOOR, 1937. Ryskind never sold another script after his HUAAC testimony.
