Senator Charles Curtis, the 1928 Republican
Senator Charles Curtis, the 1928 Republican vice-presidential nominee serves as interpreter for Mrs. Nehgambe, a Native American of the Pawnee people. She led the ceremonial presentation of the old territorial capitol building to the State of Kansas. The building housed the first session of the legislature for only five historical days, July 2"6, 1855
