Sidi Mohammed Ben Moulay Arafa, Sultan Mohammed VI, of French Morocco. Aug. 27, 1955. The French elevated him to replace the exiled Mohammed V 1953, but Moroccans violently resisted. Mohammed V returned in 1955, and negotiations brought Moroccan independence in March 1956. (CSU_2015_11_1552)
