Sir Jeffery Amherst, was Commander in Chief of his Majestys Forces in North America, from 1778 to 1863, during the French and Indian War. His victories at Louisbourg, Fort Ticonderoga, Quebec, Fort Oswego, and Montreal brought victory to the British in North America. He ordered the distribution of smallpox infected blankets to Delaware and Shawnee Indians in June 1863
