SS EASTLAND overturned in Chicago River, July 24, 1915. 844 passengers and crew were killed when the top-heavy ship, rolled completely onto its side when passengers crowded its port side. It was the largest loss of life from a single shipwreck on the Great Lakes (BSLOC_2017_17_113)
